The Old World decor in the house, many antiques, and warm earthy colors in the bedrooms, as well as the softly draped fabrics and accessories are reminiscent of old movies about safaris and adventures in other lands. Your hostess, Julie, brings her unique style to the house while her years of living in South Africa, Australia and Great Britain add the charm. The rooms are on the second floor, except for the Colonial American room which is right off the lounge on the first level and preferable to guests who have difficulty with stairs.

In the separate guest wing of the home, each of the large bedrooms has its own bathroom. Guests enjoy our new single-serving pod coffee and tea maker in the upstairs hall, and are encouraged to use the downstairs parlor where a fireplace warms the space seasonally. Our guests may use the small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot for refreshments anytime, day or night. The parlor is a comfortable space to use the wireless internet connection, as well as in some of the bedrooms. We have recently added a laptop computer in this room for our guests' convenience. We also have a small library area on the third floor.

Breakfast is served buffet-style in the dining area, and we try to accomodate your schedule. The large covered verandah is a pleasant place to relax, or take a walk to the hammock under the old silver maple trees and enjoy some time in the gardens. We have added a large gazebo, labyrinth, and fire pit to enhance the gardens for our guests.

In addition to Wal-Mart less than a mile away, there are convenient restaurants close by, a fine-dining restaurant in Cloe called "Mary's Place," and numerous shops and studios to visit including Amish stores and restaurants, antiques, pottery, weaving, and interesting places in the village of Punxsutawney, Pa. Our new favorite is "Fairlady & Co." offering many unique gifts from around the world, as well as items created by local artists and artisans.

The new additions to Punxsutawney, "Phantastic Phils," are fun to discover throughout the town, displayed in front of businesses and schools and the Groundhog Zoo. Get a map to find them all for great photo opportunities. The Groundhog Festival, which is celebrated in late June and early July is a favorite time to visit Punxsutawney, Pa. The Punxsutawney Chamber of Commerce and Souvenir Shop is a helpful resource in the community and for our visitors.
